Any NPC that upgrades items can be found in the game. Generally, these NPCs are located in capital cities or major questing locations. Players can also find upgraders when they visit dungeons with high-level bosses and by talking to the NPCs in their garrisons of their faction.

The upgrade system for items in World of Warcraft provides players with the option of upgrading the level of weapons, armor, and trinkets. This process is very similar to that of gear reforging in Mists of Pandaria and Warlords of Draenor however instead of using the currency appropriate to the task players must visit an item upgrader NPC to complete the process.

Item upgrades can be costly, particularly when it is related to armor and weapons. Based on the upgrade path each step in item level can cost several Valorstones and crests. The costs are prohibitive for those who don't have the resources, or are unwilling to grind.

Requirements

The rerolled item will also have different requirements for strength and dexterity. It is important to remember that the rerolled item does not keep its original strength or even a fraction of its resources.

Certain upgraded items can only be rerolled if the initial item was a Unique Epic, Rare or Rare. Exceptional items can also be rerolled but the original stats are replaced with an uncapped bonus. Time

The player can transform an item into a different upgradeable item by selecting it and pressing the green button with a reroll arrow. This will change the layout of the game and allow players to choose up to six items to be used for "recycling". The item that is recycled will be exchanged with a level 1 item of the same type. Recycled items will not keep their status, nor will the resources used to upgrade it.

An item's maximum upgrade level is determined by its quality and tier. Common items can be upgraded up to the maximum level of six, while Rare and Epic items can be upgraded to level nine. The upgrade of an item is added to its base statistics. This means that they will not increase further after a certain level.
