It's extremely quick and does a great job cleaning my two-bedroom apartment. It can vacuum carpeted rooms fast, and hardwood floors in the living room, kitchen and hallways in just one sweep. Its motor of 8,000pa is able to pick up dirt hair, pet hair, and poop easily. Carpet detection automatically increases power when it detects rugs and the dual side brush assists in removing debris from corners.

The mopping performance is a little less impressive, but not by much. The mop rotates at a high velocity and pushes down with 2.2lbs of force, effortlessly scraping away dirt and stains. I've noticed that the front arms extend out a bit more than other robots, which can be helpful to maneuver around tight corners and along baseboards. Those same front arms can also be used to sweep larger pieces of debris, such as broken toys and books.

Another good thing is that the S1 Pro is one of the quietest robot vacuums and mops I've tried. The S1 Pro is only limited by the fact that it needs to use a proprietary mopping solution and is sold separately. It is simple to install and performs well. However, if you are buying this robot vacuum solely for mopping it is important to pay attention to this.

The base has a few control buttons that allow you to manually begin a cleaning task and then recall the robot or run the dock's automatic emptying procedure. Hold down two of the buttons to turn off the child lock which is a great option for parents concerned about children playing with the vacuum.

The X1 Omni, like other robotic vacuums, utilizes its camera to spot obstacles and furniture that are in its path. It will stay clear of them. Its True Mapping 2.0 navigation system will map your home 10 times faster than laser detection systems and is four times more accurate at finding objects.

Unfortunately, this means that the X1 Omni will occasionally get caught up in an obstruction, such as an electrical cord dangling across a rug--that it becomes stuck and stops working until you remove it manually. This is a rare event however, it was a bit frustrating since the X1 does not have a "stuck status" alert on its app.

Another possible issue is another issue is the X1 Omni's inability to automatically change between vacuuming and mopping modes during cleaning. You'll have to manually switch between the two, which isn't too bad apart from the fact that the mopping pads aren't cleaned and dried between use and can cause mildew or mold.

The X1 Omni looks great, thanks to the Jacob Jensen design team (of Bang & Olufsen fame) who designed the sleek modern, contemporary base and mopping pad. It's a big change from the utilitarian all-black bases that are used by rivals like Roborock and iRobot and a pleasing appearance in a market that is dominated by bulky, boxy units.
