The Scandinavian-American Bank was opened for business in Portland Jan- uary II, 1908, with the next ofliicers: C. F. Hendricksen, president; Sylvester Petersen, vice-president; Anthon Eckern, cashier. The bank founded by W. S. Ladd and C. E, Tilton continued as a partnership till 1908, when it was reorganized as a private company below the old name, and as such is now operated by the stockholders. THE LADD & TILTON Bank. On May 24, 1907, a branch of the unique financial institution of Geo. On January 24, 1910, an office was opened on the west facet within the Henry building at Fourth and Oak streets, which was and is presently the main office of Geo. It was organ- ized on July 4, 1865, and commenced enterprise in a bit of room in the second story of the brick home on the west facet of Front road three doors south of Stark avenue. W. Bates & Co., Bankers, was opened at Williams avenue and Knott road.

Keating, as incorporators, which articles had been filed in the workplace of the secretary of state of the state of Oregon, on the 6th day of April, 1906. The members of the first board of directors have been: D. C. Pelton, F. H. Rothchild, Dr. K. A. J. Mackenzie, John A. Keating, Robert T. Piatt, Portland, Oregon ; Edward C. Mears, H. D. Story, Portland, Oregon ; and George C. Bingham, Salem, Oregon. The safety Savings and Trust Company of Portland, gold was incorporated in 1890. The first board of administrators was composed of Henry Failing, C. H. Lewis, C. A. Dolph, Joseph Simon, A. L. Mills and C. F. Adams.
